Councillors voted to adopt the City Plan Part 2, a follow up to Part 1 adopted in 2016, planning housing, employment spaces and infrastructure until 2030. The adoption came with controversy: campaigners have protested in front of the town hall ahead of the meeting to prevent Benfield Valley in Hangleton to be used for housing development. The council claims it’s not worth keeping the Royal Pavilion Gardens public toilets open until April nor refurbished until “the risks of drug use and antisocial behaviour in the area are resolved”. The petition to keep toilets open during winter can be signed here.

“The British Engineerium is an engineering and steam power museum in Hove, East Sussex. It is housed in the Goldstone Pumping Station, a set of High Victorian Gothic buildings started in 1866.”. Closed to the public in 2006, it has been bought earlier this year with the promise of creating “a cutting-edge centre designed to promote health, happiness and wellbeing in the community”.
